Reader’s Question:

An insurer here in Florida is offering a no exam whole life insurance plan. I have diabetes so I’m thinking of going with that kind of policy, but is that a good idea?

Sheryl

Coral Springs, FL

A no exam whole life insurance policy is one of those things that is just not recommended for everyone. This doesn’t mean that it’s a bad deal, in fact, this particular type of life insurance coverage can be quite useful to the right person. Here are a few things you should consider (very seriously) before purchasing no exam whole life insurance coverage:

Who Should Buy No Exam Whole Life?

First some facts: No exam life insurance policies, whether temporary (term life) or permanent (whole life), is considerably more expensive than your average life insurance plan. This is because skipping the medical test means the insurer has no clue about your state of health. This can be very risky for them so in order to compensate for this risk no-exam life insurance premiums are higher.

However, for certain people (i.e. diabetics) this may be advantageous. Compared to the rates they would get had they taken a medical/physical exam they could end up saving more money by going with no-exam life coverage. In fact, a no exam life insurance may be the only choice for some people. In this case, a no exam whole life insurance policy makes very good sense.

When to Walk Away from No Exam Whole Life

If you are in good state of health, young, or does not have any seriously unhealthy habits, then there really is no reason for you to skip the medical test of an ordinary life insurance plan. Why pay unnecessarily high rates? There are more options and policies better suited for you out there.

Reader’s Question:

I was explained the importance of buying a life insurance policy to protect my family here in Missouri when I die. But I am not confident in passing the medical examination to get my coverage, what can I do about that?

Sofia

Springfield, MO

A lot of people know the importance of life insurance coverage that gives financial protection to their family in the event that they pass away. But when assessing the purchase of a life insurance policy, consumers deal with different information about how much coverage to get, finding affordable plans, and which type of policy to choose among different plans such as whole, term, universal and variable life insurance policies.

Aside from those things that determine how much life insurance coverage to get, people who buy permanent life insurance are required to a mandatory medical examination to know whether or not the insurance applicant is qualified for the amount of life insurance coverage he/she wants to have. This kind of medical exam would add pressure on consumers because they might not be necessarily assured of passing the exam and be eligible to buy the particular kind of life insurance coverage to protect the future financial needs of their family.

But if you are not confident enough about this medical examination, don’t worry because there are various life insurance companies in Missouri that offer an array of insurance products that are affordable and doesn’t require medical exam. When you apply for life insurance no medical, you will be asked to answer some questions about general health and where you reside. You can go online to apply for life insurance no medical or obtain a form from a life insurance broker.

Things You Should Know About No Exam Life Insurance

Readers Question:

Can I get life insurance coverage without having to go through a medical exam here in Massachusetts?

Roma

Cambridge, MA

Good question. Yes! These days there are many life insurance providers that allow you to buy No-Exam life insurance coverage. This trend is actually quite recent, created by the need of insurers to stay in business in an increasingly competitive market. To people who would have otherwise been refused life coverage had they needed to go through a medical or physical test (and subsequently fails said tests due to health or other reasons), a No-Exam life insurance policy maybe their only option to get a life insurance provider.

There are a few things you should keep in mind before you buy No-Exam life insurance coverage there in Massachusetts (or anywhere actually):

1. A No-Exam life insurance policy is usually more expensive. Without the medical/physical examination, the insurers are unable to determine your risk of dying within the coverage period accurately. So by default you are placed under the high-risk policyholders’ category. Higher risk equals higher rates.

2. Shopping for affordable No-Exam life insurance plans can be easily done on the Web. With the many available life insurance portals and websites – like this website you’re on right now – which offers free life insurance rate quote checks. Here you can easily compare which insurers cost the least to get coverage from.

3. If you are on a budget, reconsider getting a life insurance plan that requires you to take the medical or physical test, especially if you are relatively young and healthy. Why pay a few hundred dollars more a year if there really isn’t any reason for you to skip those tests?

Remember, a No-Exam life insurance policy is really something that should be left as a last resort, if you have been rejected coverage by many different insurers. The reason people pay more for this kind of coverage is because they really don’t have much choice. So think very carefully about it.

Life Insurance in Georgia

Reader’s Question:

What kind of life insurance policy here in Georgia should I buy if I am a heavy smoker? And would I also be considered a smoker by chewing tobacco?

Sinead

Atlanta, GA

One of the things that you should remember as a smoker is that regardless of what kind of life insurance policy you choose, you will inevitably have to face premiums that are generally, around three to four times higher as compared to what non-smokers would pay for the same kind of life insurance coverage.

If you’re not aware as to why, smoking (and using any nicotine-based products such as Cigars, Pipes, Nicotine Gum, Chew, Snuff, Cigarettes, Dip, and Nicotine Patches regularly or otherwise, would qualify you as a smoker) would significantly magnify your risk of shortening your lifespan via long-term respiratory illnesses, a few forms of cancer and an overall deterioration of your health and longevity. And this wreaks havoc on your life insurance premiums, and it will only get worse as you grow older and continue with your smoking habit.

The type of life insurance policy that you should get there in Georgia should still address your financial goals, and the future financial needs of whoever your beneficiaries are. You would need to put some extra effort in looking for more affordable life insurance rates. One of the best ways to do this would be to run a free life insurance quote using the web site) or any other life insurance portals available on the Internet. Companies have different ways of computing your premiums and you may still find a carrier that would have relatively lower premiums to offer a smoker.

Smokers No Exam Life Insurance

Reader’s Question:

How does life insurance companies compute life insurance rates? I was talking to some life insurance agents here in South Carolina and all of them quoted higher rates for me. A friend told me its because I’m a smoker, is this true?

Desmond

Columbia, SC

There are a lot of factors used to determine your life insurance rates . Age, gender, weight, any health conditions you may have, your family’s medical history, your job, your lifestyle or activities you participate in, whether you take drugs, recreational or otherwise and yes, even being a smoker would definitely be considered when determining your life insurance rates. Once you submit an application with a life insurance provider there in South Carolina, they would use these information to evaluate your risk profile. The higher your risk of dying sooner, the more the provider would compensate for this risk by charging higher.

Smoking can actually cause your life insurance rates to be three to four times more expensive. Obviously, this is due to the serious, long-term implications that smoking brings to one’s health and lifespan.

If you are not happy with hat you are being quoted for life insurance, another option would be to go with a No-Exam life insurance policy that would not require to you to undergo any physical and medical exams. Although premiums for this kind of policy is not really cheap either, it may prove to be lower than what you will have to pay normally for being a smoker. Still, these are all guides and the best way to get affordable life insurance is to shop around. The Internet is full of life insurance portals that allows you to get quick, easy quotes and be able to compare companies for the best rates.

Reader’s Question:

What are the benefits for choosing to get a Whole Life Insurance Policy from an agent here in Ohio?

June

Cincinnati, OH

Whole life insurance policies are best for individuals nearing retirement age, and is looking into building up cash-value towards their money in the future. With this kind of policy you get the same death benefits as would most types of life insurance coverage, but a portion of the premiums you pay actually goes into building your policies cash-value, it’s kind of like having a savings account that earns tax-deferred interest over time as well as having life insurance protection. If you have a large sum of money there in Ohio, you could also purchase the whole value of the policy in one go (known as a Single Premium Life Insurance). There is also a form of whole life insurance hath is interest-sensitive and allows you to adjust your premiums to reach the policies goals depending on how the economy is going.

Another thing that a whole life insurance policy has going for it is that the premiums are mostly fixed. This is very attractive to people who choose to pay for insurance for the rest of their lifespan but does not want to go through the hassle of having to renew every decade or so. You do have to understand that whole life is more expensive than term life insurance so if you are looking for short-term coverage only then you may benefit with term life insurance. However, if you want your money building up over the years while having life insurance “just in case”, then whole life insurance is a good option for you.

Instant No Exam Life Insurance Coverage?

Reader’s Question:

I live here in Kansas and I am wondering if you would recommend that I get a No-Exam Life Insurance Policy?

Albert

Kansas City, KS

Normally, I would only recommend a No-Exam or guaranteed Life Insurance policy if you have been denied life insurance coverage multiple times there in Kansas due to poor health or medical conditions. The reason is that most guaranteed life insurance policies have exclusions written in their agreement. These agreements are modified where there would be certain stipulations or certain requirements to be met before you or your beneficiaries can be granted payment. Some companies impose a certain period of time where you or your beneficiaries might get reduced or no benefits at all if you die within that period, say within two years from the start of your policy but might pay in full if the death is due to accidents or acts of god.

If you are generally in good health and still young, try to go with the medical or physical exam required by some life insurance providers. Most guaranteed life insurance premiums or rates can cost much higher compared to regular life insurance rates. This is because the life insurance company has no idea of your physical condition or how long you will live due to unavailability of health data hence you will be tagged as a high risk customer and your higher premiums will reflect that? If you do decide to continue with a No-exam policy at least get multiple policies from different providers to choose from. Also get a copy of a specimen agreement first so you can examine the details of the policy.
